REQUIREMENTS:-To reiterate, think about what "Mall Music/Elevator Music/Muzak" means to you, and make it a song. (We can discuss the mallcore aspect or not if everyone is on board)-Your track must be no longer than 3 minutes and 30 seconds. In general Muzak is typically pretty short, probably 2:30 to 3 minutes. it focuses on catchiness and trying blend into the noise if that makes sense.-Track must be a 16-bit WAV File format. I know Newgrounds only allows MP3s so it sounds pointless, but its for mixing sake. Send it to me in a drive link via DM or Message on NG *
*-After the collab is released and you want to post your single to NG, tag with "NG-Mall-Collab-2025". It's so I can add it to a playlist.-Nothing A-rated. I don't know how you'd do that but thought I'd just state it now.
That's it.
Deadline is FEBRUARY 15TH.(edited)

It was, but only if the majority like that idea, i personally love it too, but i have gotten a lot of replies saying theyd like to do it this year and dont know if making them slow with reverb would be lame or not
6:24 PM
If everyones on board its full on mallcore time baby

(art by ME)BACK FROM THE DEAD: NG MALL COLLAB 2: CLOSING TIMEWhat is this?Last year I made the Mall Music Collab, and it was WAY larger that I was anticipating. 41 people make sick ass tracks and it was a blast. I loved the idea and was happy to see a bunch of great creators making stuff, some...
alright, it's just that I was planning on almost drenching my track in it, but I can always send a dry and reverbed version apart from each other in case you'd like to mix it differently
also some more progress, this should be a sort of foundation to throw some more typical 'mallcore' elements, maybe some huge toms or snares and some extra synths or even horns too
TeffyD
Ill mix to see how it fits, if someone didnt have enough reverb i can compensate it
pleaaaase don't redo the global reverb lol
it just destroyed a lot of the tracks' mixing and... welp I didn't get to enjoy listening to the collab 28467 times like with the other collabs I get invested in ._.
4:59 PM
unrelated but I'm not even at 20secs in my track
I'm gonna have to speed up so much with 1h to spare everyday ._.
it's jamuary except very easy lol

@TeffyD can I send my song as long as it's 14/02 in UTC+ 1? Because I'll only be able to have access to good headphones ON February 14 lol
So I'll indeed have 1 evening to fix mixing lmao (doable but I want to make sure that I have access to that evening)

I actually had a continuation of my previous Mall song, in the same style. So I finally finished it!
It's original name is "Corsica Yacht Express" which is a reference to my friend having a trip to Corsica on the boat.

9:02 AM
I imagine this song being on a Hotel level of Pizza Tower

so its like ambient or softer mallcore style music
7:30 PM
usually slower

I don't think so... I'm at 3min20 as I built the song structure first and the (main) melody is already reaaaally slow so RIP...
A bit angry at myself but oh well
5:50 AM
I'm yapping at this point but I even used the motif that I've always used for night time but the vibe doesn't fit the "closing" part as I didn't read the title thoroughly rahhh

Should I add reverb or not? As in if your track has reverb on it already, you send me a dry version and keep it like that, and I wont add reverb to the full mixdown.
this is why i made the poll, some people had reverb on their tracks, others didnt, which i was gonna add in post to fit with others for brevity, then some said they didnt want reverb at all
6:55 PM
so i just made the poll to settle it once and for all cause idk
6:55 PM
cause how it is half the tracks are reverbed then cut to dry tracks and i dont like that
Gonna throw in a neat idea to overcome this: first half you're in the big ass corridors and open spaces of the mall (aka songs w/ reverb); second half you're in a small lounge room and settle down listening to some more tunes in an enclosed space (aka w/o reverb).
Just some cool stagecrafting and storybuilding lol
6:59 PM
Maybe the lounge portion can be nestled between two corridor portions, which open and close the collab; so you first get in, chill a tad, and then get out.(edited)
I got my other instruments sorted out, but I was struggling with drums since most of what I had was either rock oriented or sounded like it was recorded in a trash can from 2002
made some changes to my track (you already have that version, Teffy)
feels like it could belong towards the end of the collab bc it's ambient as hell(edited)
This is a rough base for what I'm making (there are no red spies)
I still have to mix and add reverb, clean it up a bit, and give it a lead. Otherwise this is the general skeleton of the song.(edited)
Centiphil
Ohh also teffy, how does the bass sound? I’m got too good with bass tones lol.

Oh, I have one. Can the lighting get darker to show the sun is going down and then get brighter towards the end of the video to show the morning sun?(edited)
@Father Beef how did you get that frutiger ambience? I'm trying to replicate it rn with some success (short high-end reverb and a tad of OTT), but I can't nail it like you do
All I really did in terms of after affects was:
Add fruity reverb to every instrument (with different amounts depending on the instrument)
Add EQUO/equalizer to the whole thing
Slap a soundgoodizer on it
Add reverb to the track itself
And some general tweakage
1:55 PM
That's just off the top of my head, but I can open it up and take another look if you want!
Nice
Only thing I'd try is to make the delay on the drums a bit more interesting, maybe try out a really sloppy triplet

This is what I was cooking until I realized that I read the conversation poorly :/
Still finished it as we don't scrap things without reason here lol

Goddamn, so aggressive drummer and bassist really going at it lmao
8:03 AM
Piano is immaculate though
8:05 AM
Also wow it's really long, great job on the sections

YOOOOO tysm!
Didn't know this was funk so I just uhhh
Took my motifs for the night and the store (motif from last year) and went full autopilot mode. I don't really follow genres usually so thanks a lot for identifying this one for me, it's unironically very useful for me 0_0
W H A T
NO WAY
so does my thingy somehow fit? Considering that I made it for nighttime by myself (pure luck lol)
So you have the reverb guitar, the weird synth in one part and the ethereal piano chords. Although I agree those I quite minor elements(edited)

with how varied each track is, ima try to do sections
2:23 AM
beginning of night, middle of night, that 4am almost morning, then open
2:29 AM
so the idea is it starts with locking up ambience, mall radio plays with effects then fades into the normal sounding tracks, each section will be time stamped, then it ends witht he mall opening
You could use my song as a transition of those because that starts as caretaker stuff and then goes to bossa nova lounge
3:05 PM
@TeffyD additionally, if you need any help with transitions between songs don't be afraid to ask me for help
Cus the megacollab forced me to make a transition from heavy dnb to lofi and make it work lmao
I think that's a really cool thing, and I might have done that, but I already tried twice (once spongebob, second time robot collab) anda after having the whole thing written down I chickened out becaue of a fear that I might have been biased / too harsh/ not too harsh on some songs
2:31 AM
so big props to anyone who actually pulls that out
